The Dutch Unieke Zorgverlener Identificatie Register (UZI-register) (Unique Healthcare Provider Identification Register) is an organisation that enables unique identification of healthcare providers and care assessment agencies in electronic traffic.
The UZI-register is responsible for the demand, production and distribution of UZI products. In doing so, the UZI-register fulfils the role of Trusted Service Provider (TSP). The UZI-register is a part of the CIBG. The CIBG is an implementing agency of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (Dutch: Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport, VWS).

The Electronic Signature Act places requirements on certification service providers. The certification of the UZI-register according to ETSI EN 319 403 against ETSI EN 319 401, ETSI EN 319 411-1 and ETSI EN 319 411-2 proves that the UZI-register complies with these requirements. . (www.etsi.org)
Public Key Infrastructure
The UZI-register complies with the ‘Public Key Infrastructure’ (PKI) standards for government agencies. This is described in the Schedule of Requirements. (www.logius.nl)

CIBG is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) and issues certificates which can be used to create qualified electronic signatures.
An independent auditor periodically checks whether the UZI-register still complies with all of the specified standards and norms.
